In collaboration with John Braman, we envisioned a new kind of community organization focused on youth development. Located in a renovated historic church building, U7 will bridge “town and gown” cultures and bring new energy to an historic neighborhood. We developed an interactive 3D model of the facility, and established a summer youth enhancement program to build the organization from within the community.

In 2009, the City of Santa Fe initiated ”a complete urban design and redevelopment look into the future of St. Michael’s Drive”.

Our plan bases the economic and placemaking strength of the main commercial corridor on comprehensive community development improvements in surrounding neighborhoods. We propose to focus redevelopment at three nodes along the 1.5 mile corridor.

Andalucia

Andalucia is a 200-acre mixed-use infill development on Albuquerque’s west side, adjacent to the Rio Grande Bosque. The design makes use of the existing topography, preserves natural drainages and agricultural fields, and creates new public spaces in mixed income neighborhoods.  A new mainstreet commercial district provides an alternative to the strip-mall environment of Coors Road. Narrower streets, alleys, trails and compact house types, such as rowhouses, create a pedestrian-friendly environment.

The 19th century commercial districts of east Las Vegas are among the most significant heritage environments in the state.  Our community-based planning process included assessments of historic properties and cultural landscapes, needs analysis, public workshops, and urban design.  The plan calls for the conversion of a highway back to a mainstreet, streetscape improvements, new zoning designations, and a management plan for historic assets.
